Run for Charity

Our 2020 Charity of Choice for the Mac N Cheese 5K is Foster Source!
Why Foster Source?
We learned a lot in the inaugural Mac 'N Cheese 5K. An important aspect of our first race was giving back to the the Denver community, and we did so through partnering with numerous local organizations that are all wonderful in their own right. While we are proud of how much we were able to give back, when we divided our total donations over so many groups, we didn't feel that we quite achieved the impact we were hoping to. That's why in 2020 we want to partner with just one organization that fits our family friendly mission, and provide them with as many resources as possible!
Foster Source's mission is to "provide relevant training, resources, and support to foster parents from a trauma-informed approach, giving them the skills and confidence to spark healing in vulnerable children." This fantastic group was started by a local couple who were foster parents in Adams County for several years. Recognizing the need to provide additional resources for foster families, they began to host support groups for fellow foster parents out of their home, and served as Foster Advisory Committee representatives for their county. When they eventually closed their home to future placements, Foster Source was born as a way to continue to support foster families throughout the community by providing them with relevant training and resources to help them build futures.
Here at the the Mac N Cheese 5K, we want to remain committed to our goal of focusing on good old fashioned family fun. We hope a 3.1 mile jaunt surrounded by your neighbors and friends dressed in their cheesiest attire sounds enticing. We hope the Mac N Cheese is an inviting post-race snack. And we hope you'll join us in supporting our 2020 charity of choice, and helping to build our community's future.
